    Ten Stars Review!

Ten stars review! Jeff & Davis! Setup 14-30 outlet in my garage for my Tesla charging last week. They are in the Tesla official webpage license electrician list. Super fast response and quote. Setup outlet professionally and with 2 years warranty. Cleaning everything after work. Kindly and gentle communication. Meanwhile, I did learn some electric valuable knowledge and experience from them. Compared with some provides (which gave me $7k quote), they were thinking how to help me to save money all the way and gave me VERY reasonable option and price! 100% recommendation!

    Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions About Home EV Charging Stations

The Tesla J1772 Wall Connector allows non-Tesla electric vehicles convenient at-home charging…indoors or outdoors. Compatible with most North American electric vehicles. Davis Electric always recommends verifiying if your vehicle is compatible with any charging station of choice prior to installation.

It can also power-share to maximize existing electrical capacity, automatically distributing power and allowing you to charge multiple vehicles simultaneously.

If you drove your EV 1,000 miles per month, you’d require at least 250 kWh of home electricity consumption. In June 2022, the Texas Average Price of Electricity for Residential Property was 13.5 cents per kWh—approximately $32.50 per month to charge an electric car at home.

A typical EV owner saves on average $800-1,000 annually charging their vehicle at home versus the fueling costs of an equivalent gasoline-powered car (Consumer Reports, EVs Offer Big Savings Over Traditional Gas-Powered Cars, October 2020).

Yes! Add property value, avoid outlet wear-and-tear and prevent dangerous fire hazards with a properly installed Dryer Outlet Splitter. Our primary concern is always overall client and property safety. Davis Electric does not recommend multi-plug power adapters for high-voltage outlets. The average cost of breaker box replacement or repair due to overloaded circuit damage ranges from $1,400-4,500.

Your EV charger cord is too short? No problem. Davis Electric can install a new 240V Outlet indoors or outdoors.

Do you have two EVs, a washer, and a dryer? A new dedicated 240V Outlet specifically for EV Charger usage can offer: maximized fire protection, convenient outlet placement and proper use of a high-quality 240V Smart Splitter.

We offer indoor/outdoor electrical solutions for all manufacturers including Audi, BMW, Ford, GMC, Hyundai, Jaguar, Kia, Lucid, Mazda, Mercedes, Mini, Nissan, Polestar, Porsche, Rivian, Tesla, Volkswagen, and Volvo.

If your brand isn’t on the brand list, give us a call at 512-433-0394 and inquiry. We’d be happy to help.

Yes. Davis Electric can install a new 240V Outlet indoors and outdoors. We always recommend Indoor Installation due to the encouraged protection of your vehicle, outdoor pets, people, and from typical Texas weather conditions.

We are always happy to recommend the best weatherproofing equipment to prolong the life of your charger and help prevent hazards caused by water and sun exposure.

It’s very common to confuse a Tesla Wall Connector (Level 2, for home property usage) with a Tesla Supercharger (Level 3). Level 3 charging stations, or DC Fast Chargers, are primarily for commercial and industrial settings. Level 3 chargers, often seen at shopping center parking lots, are very expensive and require specialized, powerful equipment to operate. To add, EV batteries are similar to cell phone batteries. Superchargers are not intended for daily use—as superchargers bill at a higher rate and decrease overall battery life.

For highest home convenience, Davis Electric recommends installing a Tesla Wall Connector (Level 2).

Yes….using an NEMA 5-15 adapter for a 120 volt outlet. However, be prepared to wait 20-40 hours for a full battery charge.

For most convenience, Davis Electric recommends installing a Tesla Wall Connector (Level 2). An AC Level 2 charger offers the typical EV approximately 8-12 hours for a full battery charge.

No. Whether a ‘1’, ‘2’ or ‘3’ charging device category………the “Level” and “Type” label are the same.

Level 1 is common for American vehicles and requires a normal 120-volt outlet. From empty, Level 1 chargers can take 40-50 hours to fully charge an all-electric vehicle and 5-6 hours for a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle.

Level 2 is standard for European and Asian vehicles (2018-Current) and requires a higher-output 240-volt outlet. Level 2 chargers can charge an all-electric vehicle in 4-10 hours and a Hybrid in 1-2 hours.

Davis Electric is happy to provide you with any paperwork helpful for program eligibility. The Inflation Reduction Act’s Alternative Fuel Refueling Property tax credit extends the EV charger tax incentive ten years—through December 31, 2032. Install a home EV charging station and receive a tax credit up to $1,000. Also, beginning in 2023, the tax credit for business and home installations, will apply to other EV charging equipment like bidirectional (i.e., two-way) chargers.

Currently, Austin Energy has a variety of cost-saving incentives for their clients. Check your local governments for additional rebate opportunities.

Absolutely. In addition to being one of the most affordable prices in town, Davis Electric services come with a 2-year warranty on everything we touch. We are very flexible and willing to work with our clients to ensure their satisfaction!

NO HIDDEN FEES. All services are backed by our 100% Satisfaction Guarantee. Our success is due to being fully transparent with the most competitive prices for every happy client. Our service quotes are based on typical installation as well as your inital property description. However, please note that all properties are unique. Upon on-premise service inspection, we will provide any additional service recommendations if necessary to complete your project at the highest Property Safety Standards.

Home Electrical Safety & Electrical Fire Prevention is our top priority. EV Chargers, depending on type, may require an Electrical Panel Upgrade. Or, some cases may require Outlet Upgrades or Installation. We do not recommend Home Electrical Upgrading as DYI projects or servicing by unlicensed electricians. Jeff Davis, Owner, is as registered Master Electrician and insured within the State of Texas.

We schedule service appointments 7-14 days in advance. However, property permit approval may require additional time. Always call 512-433-0394 or email us at jd@jeffdaviselectric.com at your earliest convenience. If we are already scheduled to be in your service area during a specific time, we may be able to schedule your property for more immediate service.

Absolutely! Take advantage of the best electric rates…at home. As long as your EV is compatible with a Level 2 charger, an 240V circuit/outlet is all you will require.

Our Level 2 Charger Installation is very affordable. Level 2 chargers can charge an all-electric vehicle in 4-10 hours and a Hybrid in 1-2 hours. We all sleep…and non-peak, overnight hours are the most cost-efficient times to charge a vehicle at home.

Today, more properties are increasingly investing in multiple cost-cutting, energy-efficient equipment to power their homes. Significant electric power load to your property may may require important electrical panel upgrading to prevent a fire hazard.

Typically, the average home electrical panel will not be effected by a new, upgraded or repaired 240V Outlet. Davis Electric will always verify or offer service recommendations, prior to beginning an installation project, if your electrical panel is up to local code and/or compatible with your new requested installation or outlet update/repair. Operating according to industry and local compliance (as well as your safety) is are highest priority.

For sure! If uncertain, sharing photos of your electrical panel and outlet for EV usage will help in inital estimated price. In all cases, on-premise service inspection will determine the final service quote and professional recommendations (if necessary) to complete your project to the highest industry standards.

The National Electrical Code requires an electrical circuit to be rated for 25% greater amperage than your charger’s output. For example, if you want to buy a 40-amp Level 2 charger, you’ll need a circuit breaker that’s rated for at least 50 amps.
